Targeted Drug Delivery
The
development of methods to deliver targeted pharmaceuticals
is being studied to ameliorate complications from such procedures
as balloon angioplasty and carotid endarterectomy, which often
result in damage to the endothelial layer, and re-occlusion.
Institute researchers believe that successful deployment of
targeted pharmaceuticals could speed the healing process and
protect the damaged surface from thrombus formation.
