Urological Dysfunction
Muscle-based gene therapy for urologic dysfunction has shown promise for restoring deficient urethral sphincter muscle in animal models and indicates that it may be possible to regenerate injured sphincter muscle tissue via injection of stem cells. Currently, this technology is under investigation through the evaluation of muscle-derived stem cells for treatment of stress urinary incontinence and bladder dysfunction.
