Donna Beer Stolz, Ph.D
Donna Beer Stolz, Ph.D., is Assistant Director of the Center for Biologic Imaging and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to arriving at the university, Dr. Stolz received her B.S. in Biochemistry in 1986 and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 1991 from the University of Massachusetts. Currently, Dr. Stolz is actively involved in research concerning the process of liver regeneration.

Dr. Stolz has been featured in several publications for her work at the Center for Biologic Imaging as well as for her research efforts. Her primary interests lie in examining signal transduction relating to mitogen-stimulated motility events in parenchymal (hepatocytes) and non-parenchymal (epithelial and endothethial) cells of the liver during liver regeneration, angiogenesis of the liver following partial hepatectomy, endothelial cell proliferation and motility and the effect of extracellular matrix and ECM proteases on the above phenomen. Currently, her research involves angiogenesis in liver using regeneration following 70% partial hepatectomy as a model system. In addition, she has extended these studies to liver transplant models by evaluating repopulation of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells damaged during reperfusion injury following cold ischemic storage.
