Dr. Michael Boninger is Professor and Chair in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine and director of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Boninger is a physician researcher for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and is the Medical Director of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, a VA Rehabilitation Research and Development Center of Excellence. Dr. Boninger has an extensive publication record of over 200 published papers spanning 18 years in the area of spinal cord injury and assistive technology. Dr. Boninger also has extensive experience and publications related to teaching research. Dr. Boninger holds 4 US patents and has won numerous awards, including being inducted into the Institute of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Boninger’s students have also won over 45 national awards.
