Olympus Microscopes and American Laboratory acknowledged in a recent issue the world-wide reputation of Dr. Simon Watkins and his colleagues for their pioneering research in life-science imaging. The caption with the photograph at the right reads: “At Dr. Simon's lab, they look at cells the way that anthropologists look at human culture: as communities of good and bad guys, of traders and communicators, of connections and relationships. “We are the observers,” Simon says. “We never jump to conclusions.
