Dr. William Wagner is one of the newest members of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ASAIO) Board of Trustees. In this capacity, he will serve on the ASAIO Executive Committee and be the Deputy Program Chairman during the period 2007-2008. This latter role includes that he serves as the 2008-2009 Program Chairman for the ASAIO’s 2009 Annual Conference in Dallas, TX, May 28-30. Dr. Wagner previously was the Chairman of the Bioengineering Track of this conference. This new Board appointment also includes service on the ASAIO Nominations Committee.ASAIO consists of over 1,000 Members. Its membership is a diverse group of specialists from 40 different countries with over 30 different professional degrees. These individuals represent government, universities, industry, private hospitals, and independent research groups. The areas of nephrology, biomaterials, and cardiopulmonary devices are heavily represented as well as numerous other specialized interests.
ASAIO takes pride in its presentation of an Annual Conference, which draws up to 1,000 attendees with a broad range of primary interests. This Conference includes presentations from over 400 speakers from more than a dozen countries. This Conference is truly unique in that it provides a forum for individual researchers to present not only to fellow investigators, but also to members of industry and to government representatives who will be involved in regulatory affairs as projects develop into the production of clinical devices. This Conference provides continuing education for accreditation for CME, CCP, and CEU.
